"I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter. The cast-offs of human society,
I saw in their eyes love & hope, fear & dread, sadness & betrayal. And I was angry.
"God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"
God was silent for a moment & then He spoke softly, "I have done something,"
He replied.  "I created you" - Author Jim Willis

A Fairytale ending for COOPER and Buttons
Click Here to Read Their Happy ending

2008 IS GOING TO BE

GREAT!!

First, I want to thank everyone for all their support and referrals.  It’s always wonderful to place a pooch with someone who’s been referred to us by a happy adopter!

2007 was most definitely the biggest financial challenge in all of Bichons and Buddies’ history.  Moving into 2008 my goal is to replenish our operating funds and to quickly pay off our outstanding vet bills.

To recap our challenges in 2007, you will recall the beginning of the year brought Cooper, our amazing, heroic bionic dog with more metal in him than the space shuttle.  As you may remember he had gotten hit by a car and left to languish at the shelter in pain with multiple factures of the pelvis and leg.  His surgery was the most expensive we’ve ever undertaken…..until

Sweet, beautiful Buttons.  Another car victim, only this poor girl ended up in one of worst of the LA County shelters where she was left to rot away in a cage with the same injuries as Cooper….only much worse.  Her urethra was trapped between the fragments of bone which started to fuse.  It was an incredibly lengthy and painstaking procedure which required a battery of tests in addition to the surgery.  You can read both their happy ending stories by clicking the link at the top of this page.

Then since we seemed to be having such success with fixing broken dogs, two other little ones with broken legs found their way to our care which of course required orthopedic repair.  Also, check out the Available link and read about Mikey who had a tumor in his right hind leg and had to have it amputated.

All in all it was a real bank buster and by the end of this year I started to feel like the B of J.

ANY CONTRIBUTION YOU CAN MAKE TO HELP REPLENISH OUR COFFERS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

No amount is too small. All donations are tax deductible. You can pay by check or you can use a credit card or Paypal. Please click this link to make your donation.
